Public invited to launch of Community Climate Leadership training

Communities in Cavan and Fermanagh are invited to a launch event on 13 October in the Slieve Russell Hotel to discover how local people and community leaders can lead the way in building a greener, more resilient future.
The event will introduce the “Community Climate Leadership Training programme, a new cross-border initiative that equips local people with the skills, knowledge and networks to take meaningful climate action.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask further questions and learn more about the training programme and its relevance for their own communities.
Through workshops, field trips, online learning and expert-led webinars, participants will explore practical topics such as renewable energy, biodiversity, climate adaptation, waste and the circular economy, and water management. The programme also focuses on nurturing local leaders who can inspire and support climate action in their communities.
Funded by the International Fund for Ireland, in collaboration with Cavan County Local Development and the Fermanagh Trust, the project is delivered by GAP Ireland, in partnership with other organisations.
“This initiative is all about connection,” said Hans Zomer, CEO of GAP Ireland.
“We want to bring together people who care about their community and about the climate, and give them the tools to take action, and make a real difference locally.”
The Information Evening is open to everyone in Cavan and Fermanagh who is interested in getting involved.
The Community Climate Leadership programme will start in November.
The launch event takes place at 7 pm on Monday 13 October.
Tickets are free, but limited.
