In fine weather, mountains in Tyrone and parts of the Mourne mountains also come into view, so you can survey the three provinces of Ulster, Connacht and Leinster.
Bruse Hill Trail - Terrain Mountainous - Distance 5km - Grade Strenuous
A Passage to our Past; There are three potential passage tombs on Bruse Hill, as well as a number of unrecorded monuments. 26- Bealtaine Bridget's Thatched Cottage Event At Drummany
We are delighted to announce our fantastic Bealtaine Event at Drummany Spirit, the opening of Bridget’s Thatched Cottage and the launch of the Ruaille Buaille Druma, Ireland’s largest hand crafted wooden community drum.
Join us for a soulful & celebratory day at Bridget’s Thatched Cottage at Drummany Spirit, Cavan, on Sunday, 4th May, from 2 to 8pm as we honour the ancient Celtic festival of Bealtaine
After 40 years of quiet anticipation, the heart of Bridget’s thatched cottage is reborn, reigniting its warmth and spirit in a beautifully restored hearth. This year, we will gather to celebrate #Bealtaine in the lovingly restored cottage, where the fire that once brought love and warmth to many will be rekindled in a special ceremony “Reigniting the Flame”. The cottage, which has been thoughtfully restored with care and respect for tradition, will once again become a sacred space where community connection and new beginnings can blossom. As the flames dance in the hearth of the cottage, the reigniting ceremony will bring together the energies of the past and present. Through ritual, song, dance, and shared stories, we will celebrate not just Bridget, who lived here with her brother Paddy & cousin Jim but a new chapter, a symbol of renewal, growth and connection. The heart of the fire reminds us that, like the Thatched Cottage, we too can be restored and renewed no matter the years that have passed.
We are also launching The Ruaille Buaille Druma, Ireland’s largest community wooden drum. This beautiful drum. lovingly hand crafted at Drummany Spirit will bring together the heart and beat of the land, allowing 30 people to play together in connected spirit and harmony.
Come along for a day of Storytelling, Sean Nos, Drum Circle, Old Irish Games (Skittles, Tug Of War), Traditional Music & Crafts, and more
Drummany Spirit is a registered community group. Proceeds on the day will be used by Drummany Spirit to continue the development of their community space.

The aim of this survey:
to collect information on the present experience of stakeholders – when assessing rural impacts, and how to better integrate, the consideration of needs of rural areas into the policy planning and implementation process.
The aim of the project:
is to improve the capacity to create and assess the impacts of policies, programs, and initiatives on rural, coastal, and mountain areas and how to integrate rural proofing into government decision and policy-making processes.

28- Voter Registration Drive
Hello. We are encouraging organisations and grouos to host a Voter Registration Drive and details are below. We have recorded the session from “What to expect on the day”, and you can watch it here (apologies I wasn’t able to record it from the beginning).
There are two ways you can take part on NVRD:
1. Host a Registration Drive
If you're interested in running a registration drive, please send us the details of your registration centre (location and time) for 30th April. We are providing you with two flyers to start promoting it , just make sure to add the location and time where it says “where” in one of the flyers.
We have also attached a Toolkit with more information about this initiative for you, and extra materials that you can use on the table. If you have any questions or need extra info, please let us know. Also, If you have nice online materials for the table, send them over and we’ll share them with other registration drives as well. DALC has produced lovely materials for the Presidential Elections too:
Information we need from you:
Time and location of your registration drive
Contact details of the person coordinating NVRD at your centre (name, email, and phone number)
Your organisation’s logo (high-resolution PNG with transparent background or EPS format)
To print materials attached for the table. If you’re not able to print all, please contact Ryan Higgins from the Electoral Commission who would be happy to arrange sending materials for you (Ryan.Higgins@electoralcommission.ie or 01 5391040)
We will send you a Poster for your table - this will need to be printed in A3.
Promote your registration drive on your social media platforms
(Optional) A short video encouraging people to register to vote and to participate in the upcoming presidential election - send this in vertical for no longer than 1 min.
2. Support as an Individual/organisation
If you can’t host a registration drive but still want to get involved:
Share the official flyer on your social media channels
Help promote the initiative to spark conversations within your community
(Optional) Send us a short video—perhaps sharing a personal anecdote about voting or simply reminding others that the presidential elections are coming up, and it’s time to register or update their details to vote later in the year.
We want this to be a successful and impactful initiative, and we can only achieve that with your support. Thank you for your enthusiasm!
All the best,
Liliana, on behalf of the National Voter Registration Day Team
