17- Romanian Community of Ireland Survey
We, the Romanian Community of Ireland, are getting in touch to kindly ask that you help promote the survey below to the PPN member groups from the local community in Cavan.
Since its establishment in 1998, the Romanian Community of Ireland (RCI) has organised many events to promote Romanian culture, enhance integration initiatives for all ages, provide information and signpost the community towards helpful resources and opportunities to participate. In October 2023, in recognition of the organisation’s long standing achievements, RCI was awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit by the Romanian President, Klaus Johannis.
However, we are acutely aware that the demographic profile and needs of the Romanian diaspora in Ireland are rapidly changing. According to the latest Census 2022 figures, there are more than 42,460 Romanians living in Ireland, which represents an increase of more than 67%% since the 2016 census.
The Romanian Community of Ireland wishes to explore and capture this change and would need your support to promote a survey for the Romanian speaking community in Ireland, which includes and is not limited to Romanian and Moldovan nationals, members of the Roma community and anyone living in Ireland who speaks Romanian.
The survey is anonymous. It takes 7-10 minutes to complete and is in Romanian (a summary in English is attached). The closing date for the survey is the 22nd of June 2025.

This consultation process provides the public with an opportunity to:
Comment on existing identified bathing waters with a view to continuation of classification

20- Consultation on Antimicrobial Resistance Public Consultation launched to inform the development of Ireland’s next National Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance
The Department of Health and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine have today jointly launched an online survey which provides the public with an opportunity to inform the development of Ireland’s next National Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance.
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) causes medicines such as antibiotics to become less effective, or even useless, in the treatment of infection. This increases the likelihood of disease spread or severe illness. AMR is recognised as one of the top ten global public health threats by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
To tackle this issue, Ireland has adopted a holistic One Health approach working across human health, animal health, and the environment sectors, using our national action plan as a roadmap.
The survey which is open to the general public, is a key step in the stakeholder consultation process on the new action plan, which will be Ireland’s third action plan on AMR. We are seeking the views of participants on antibiotic use, current policy on AMR, and future actions that Ireland should take to address this important issue. The survey will remain open until Friday, 13 June 2025.

29- Recording of IEN Webinar with PPN Members
Last week we held a webinar with Councillor Dermot O’Brien who shared his experience and insights into working on an SPC.
You can now watch the full webinar on our Environmental Pillar Youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/jJzkkZZuf88
Feel free to share this recording with your PPN representatives.
Dermot gave a wonderful introduction to engaging with the Strategic Policy Committees, including an overview of what an SPC meeting looks like at its best. I found this really useful as it set up what expectations you should have for an SPC meeting including expectations of how a Rep should be treated and included.
These insights, among lots of other tips and methods to engage, made for a very useful and compelling webinar.
If you’re looking for more tips on working on a Strategic Policy Committee, including recommendations on troubleshooting when an SPC isn’t working at its best, you can watch our previous webinar on the SPCs here: https://youtu.be/XgkpKCkn6jU
To request training on specific topics, whether related to using your PPN or broader environmental topics, please use this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd0WoREGrKnh7DAlq8hCwXux8u-3hv_XmgrpPyvAl4ju2TX2A/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=107621942696820365305
